Donovan named to Champions League squad

After scoring 4 goals in 5 games during Bayern Munich’s winter training period, Landon made his Bundesliga debut with the club when he entered the match against Hamburg FC in the 77th-minute. Landon could be in line for his first league start Sunday when Bayern hosts Borussia Dortmund, due to a left knee injury that has held starting striker Miroslav Klose out of training.

“I want to resume training with the squad tomorrow. We’ll see if the knee reacts, and whether it makes sense for me to play on Sunday,” Klose reported.

If Klose is not able to suit up, Landon would likely start in his spot at striker.

In other news Landon has been named to Bayern’s Champions League roster. Bayern Munich will face Portuguese squad Sporting Lisbon in home and away matches on February 24/25 & March 10/11

I am also glad to see landon playing at Bayern. I know him since the world championship 2002 in Korea/Japan. I knew, that he could make it in europe somewhen and now time has come. So please stay! I would like to see Landon longer than march, cause we need him. I really hope he will get a contract for two years…
Good luck for the next game!

Mr. Donovan, Your N. California fans appreciate and remember well all your effort and great plays for the Quakes. We follow your play in Munich and are rooting for a successful career there. After your time in Munich, and when you are ready to return to MLS, we would like to see you play for the Earthquakes again. Do you think it would be possible? Thanks, James Rabago Merced, CA

Landon, it’s great to see an american football star here playing at FCB. I’m a big FCB fan due to living here for over 5yrs now with the military and hope you start some of the matchs i make it to the second half of the Bundisliga season. it would be nice if you made a moral visit to the US Troops and family members stationed here in the Vilseck/Grafenwoehr area while your playing. My 3 year old son thinks your the best “American” footballer, but he still thinks Ribery and Luca Toni are the best over all. He maybe one of the biggest FCB fans you will ever meet so hopefully he gets the chance some time to see you in action or at a moral stop when you have a few minutes free. we’re only about 2 hours from munich so shoot me an email and i will assist in setting things up for you. by the way i’m a US Soldier myself!

see you soon
