After helping spark Bayern Munich to a 3-1 victory Sunday over Borussia Dortmund, Landon was called into National Team Service by US coach Bob Bradley. Landon leads 20 US players called up for Wednesday’s match against Mexico, which kicks off from Columbus, Ohio, at 7:00 PM EST and can be seen on ESPN 2 and Univision.
Landon Donovan leads the US roster in caps with 105 international appearances, and is the USA’s all-time leader in goals and assists, now one goal shy of tying Brian McBride for the most career goals in World Cup qualifying (10). Landon has had great success against Mexico in his career, having scored four times against Mexico, highlighted by the second goal in a 2-0 win in the Round of 16 of the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
