Landon Donovan is on his way back to Los Angeles to rejoin the MLS’s Galaxy. Landon’s 10 week load coincided with a remarkable turnaround in the Everton season, as the team went 7-4-2 (6-2-2 in Premier League play) in games in which Landon played, including memorable wins over Chelsea and Manchester United. While Landon is excited to rejoin his Galaxy teammates and get back home to California, he has admittedly bittersweet feelings about leaving Everton and has left the door open for a possible return in the future.
“I’m really excited to get home to friends, family, sunshine and my teammates but it’s definitely bittersweet, “Landon posted to his Facebook Page from Heathrow. “I wish I had more words than “thank you” to all the Evertonians who made my stay so wonderful. I will miss you guys but I’m sure we will see each other again in the future.”
Landon was very appreciative of the opportunity given to him by Everton manager David Moyes, and was also blown away by the the support and encouragement he got from his new teammates and the Everton fans.
“I’m 28 years old now and I’ve played over 100 times for my country, I’ve also played a lot of league games in different parts of the world,” Landon told the Everton website. “But I’ve never met a fan-base like this, either playing for them or as an away player. They’ve been absolutely incredible and it’s hard to imagine that they can be that passionate every time you go out but they care.”

Landon Thank you for all your great performances and work at Everton over the last 10 weeks! you have been a revelation and are just what our club needs! and i and every other Evertonian wish you could stay!
As a season ticket holder i witnessed you playing at first hand and you are truely a phenomenal player!
you always seemed to be a player i have bought on football manager games, and having seen you play on tv for USA in the World Cup and even struggle in Germany for munich and leverkusen, this didn’t phase my excitement at the thought of you at everton when speculation first started! as you could always see your talent espacially for USA but in germany there route one football style made it hard for yourself and unlike us scousers arent the most welcoming people in the world!
as you know in the 10 weeks you have been here, we have grown to love you and didn’t want you to leave, and sitting in my seat less than 30m away from you setting up scoring and being lifted by Rodwell to us fans were great moments for us fans as you have been a breath of fesh air to our great club
Remember “Its a Grand old Team” and us fans want you in our team! we just hope we have left a big enough impression to make you want to come back here over other top clubs who are now intrested!
Thanks again Landon i will be looking out for you (and USA and Tim) in the world cup! hopefully Baines watched you enough to keep you quiet against England haha and you never know you may even be up against jags too! But seriously you have been amazing and i wish you all the best for the Future and hopefully Mr Kenwright will open the Everton cheque book and bring you back here Permanently over the summer!
Simon
